Microsoft brings built-in screen recorder functionality to Windows. The Snipping tool in Windows 11 will soon be updated to include screen recording, meaning Windows users won't have to rely on Xbox Game Bar or third-party tools just to record their screen.

Windows 11 testers will start getting access to the updated Snipping Tool today, and a new recording option will let you record the entire screen or even a cutout. The update comes more than four years after Microsoft first introduced a new screenshot experience for Windows.

“We knew that the Snipping Tool was loved by the insider community, so we were excited to introduce a program,” explains Dave Grochocki, lead product manager for Windows inbox applications. Screen recorder integrates with this update!”. “Snipping Tool has always made it quick and easy to capture and share content from your PC, and with built-in screen recording we are expanding these capabilities to a wider range of content types. more tolerance.”

The region selection feature will be useful for people who just want to capture an app instead of their entire screen.

Microsoft has only just started testing this with Windows 11 testers in the Dev Channel, so it could be weeks or months before this Snipping Tool is released to everyone using Windows 11. Still, it's great. Great that Windows finally has a built-in screen recorder.
